 | | Our home away from home in Montréal-- the Chateau Versailles.
 | | While wandering around Old Port, we saw a poster for the Mosaïcultures Internationales exhibition and decided to go. The theme was Myths and Legends of the World.
 | | The matryoshka dolls were cute.
 | | John Belushi is Samurai Kite Maker.
 | | This one was very dramatic.
 | | Canadian geese, eh?
 | | A topiary tsunami (with Mt. Fuji on the left).
 | | The knight in shining armor...
 | | the dragon...
 | | and the damsel in distress (chained to the tree).
 | | Lizard!
 | | My own personal fave: topiary moai.
 | | How cool is that?
 | | I want them on my front lawn.
 | | Fern Totem.
 | | (Actually, no ferns were involved.)
 | | This is an "inukshuk"-- a rock pile used to mark trails or campsites in the Arctic.
 | | Moose!
 | | 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
 | | This one was just so darn cool; I really liked the waterfalls.
 | | The cobras were also nifty... their tails snaked through several of the previous exhibits.
 | | No penguin topiary.
 | | Modern art with penguin.
 | | Irish pub (we had lunch at the creperie next door).
 | | There was some sort of minor league game (or practice or something) going on while we were there.
 | | I'd never been to an indoor stadium before. It's kind of weird having a roof.
 | | Cheese.
 | | On the way up...
 | | And up...
 | | Looking out over the Botanical Garden. You can see the Chinese Garden to the left (with the brightly-colored lanterns).
 | | Looking toward Old Town/ Old Port.
 | | Montréal skyline.
 | | A better view of Old Port.
 | | Looking down from the Observation Tower to the plaza below.
 | | Riding back down.
 | | Looking up the tower.
 | | The Biodôme (actually the velodrome during the Olympics) and the Observation Tower.
 | | A better view of the Tower.
 | | Penguins frolicking in the Biodôme.
 | | Watching the show.
 | | Souvenir sack.
 | | We also went to the Insectarium. I didn't take pix of the exhibits, but it was interesting seeing all the butterflies and scary bugs.
 | | It was nice wandering around for a bit. We didn't stay to watch the sunset because we were getting hungry.
 | | Here are a few lanterns.
 | | Goodbye, Olympic Park!
 | | Goodbye, penguins!
 | | On our way home, we visited Dan's parents in Vermont.
 | | And you can't go to Vermont without visiting Ben & Jerry's.
 | | Best. Flavor. Ever.
 | | Snuffy, this is the print that I bid on (and won) at Worldcon. It's called "At the Drive-In" and the artist is Yokoyama Eiji.
