Via little. yellow. different.: tips for speeding up Firefox (broadband users only). Can't wait to get home and try it!
Posted by rv at January 5, 2005 01:13 PM to geekThanks for posting this...mainly because the one irritation about it, for me, is that it seems very slow to load. And I keep wondering why people love it....
Posted by: CF at January 5, 2005 02:17 PMI love it for many reasons. Tabbed browsing. Pop-up blocking. Image server blocking (key!)-- I can right-click on an advertisement and block all images from that ad server. Cookie management. And more.
Posted by: rv at January 5, 2005 04:59 PMI tried it with Firefox here at work, and it seems noticeably faster (purely subjective, your mileage may vary.)
I can do all those things in safari. hmm. I can even highlight a word in safari, right-click and one of the menu options is google. However, turns out that with my domain host I can only use firefox for it (they haven't/won't certify safari), which is why I've been using it recently in the first place....and then I encountered the speed issue, so, like...wasn't too happy.
But, if I can do all of the stuff I can do in safari and get to my domain provider, I'm more than willing to switch to firefox. I didn't get to the tweaking last night, but I'll probably test this cool stuff out in the next few days.
I'm not really browser loyal. I kept with IE on the mac for the longest time cause, well, I was used to it. Then switched to safari when things wouldn't connect correctly in IE (although, I still have to use it for webmail with work). Then, installed firefox when I couldn't get to my new domain host site and use my services on it. I'm a johnny-come-lately to using firefox.
