I love my ice cream. Judging from the plethora of Globe stories recently, so do they.
Have you been to J.P.Licks? Is it good? I don't like the ice cream at Cold Stone. The flavor is not satisfying.
Posted by: debra at June 30, 2005 11:26 AMI've been to Cold Stone a few times while visiting CA. There is one at a mall near Poz's, and there is one where Clue Fairy's parents live in Monrovia. I don't even remember what the ice cream was like, because there are so many toppings and mix-ins. It is very ooey-gooey, which is OK if you are in the mood for it.
I don't think I've ever been to J.P. Licks, mostly because there aren't any that are really conveniently close to home or work. When I'm craving really good ice cream, we go to Eriksson's (Maynard) or Kimball Farm (Westford).
One of the best flavors at Kimball's is Mocha Almond Assault— coffee ice cream with chocolate-covered almonds. At Erikson's, I like the Mint Chip and Mocha Almond. They also make a Ginger ice cream that I've heard good things about, but never tried. We tried their Wintergreen Chip once; chrism said it tasted like Lysol. I liked it better than he did (which isn't saying much), but I haven't ordered it again.
Also, Erikson's is a very popular spot for dog owners. If you go there with your dog, you can ask for a free doggy "ice cream". It looks like vanilla (I've never tasted it) and comes in a little paper dish with a mini dog biscuit.
p.s. Best ice cream ever: Toscanini's.
