Today's ancient Chinese secret: 4,000 year old noodles. I'm sure that they taste better than 1,000 year old eggs (not that I've ever had one).
Posted by rv at October 12, 2005 05:57 PM to newsOK, You just made my heart skip a beat!
I've had thousand year old eggs -- they taste a little weird, like gunpowder and have a real gelatinous texture. I wouldn't go out and order them specifically, however, next time you are in town I know of a place that serves them as part of a dish. It is an acquired taste, though that is not why my heart skipped a beat.
My heart skipped a beat, because one of the editors / food critics on the link is Megan McCormick. I know that this is going to sound weird, but I have had the feeling the last 4 or so years that I have meet that woman!
I think she lives in NYC and I know that she has been at a bar that I frequent -- trying out the free hot dogs and cheap beer (Rudy's).
Any help would be appreciated meeting her.
And Megan, if you are reading this -- I am NOT a psycho.
I think Kita could combine these with some 2000 year old bacon to make 7000 year old carbonara! Mmmm, 7000 year old carbonara.
Posted by: Jay at October 13, 2005 09:42 PMHey Iwan, her profile says that she is a Television Presenter. Do you have any idea what station or what show?
Posted by: rv at October 13, 2005 09:49 PMAre you kidding me?
She is a Globe Trekker (formerly Pilot Guides) presenter. She, Ian (who you probably know of) and the rest of the crew can be seen on your local public television station as I think it is UK based. Or just check out:

I beleive that they have a link to TV stations that show the program.
She has been to some of the places I'd like to go most....
