A moment of silence for Bert the Turtle

I just read that Ray Mauer died. He wrote the script for the 1951 film Duck and Cover, featuring Bert the Turtle and a passel of kids diving below their desks during an atomic attack. He apparently lived in Stratford, CT, where I grew up, and died in Bridgeport Hospital, where I was born. I'm James Burke, and this is Connections.
